Optovision – membership organisation for optometrists…. loyalty program for suppliers

Optovision is a unique Buying Group collective for independent optometrists that was founded and established by StrategyCo in conjunction with a number of independent optometrists – who were dissatisfied with the current buying groups in their market.

The everyday purchase items for Optometrists are spectacle frames, lenses and contact lenses – and Optovision’s focus is on negotiating industry-beating discounts with a range of frame distributors and lens manufacturers.

Having devised a model that rewarded each member for every dollar spent, StrategyCo went about recruiting all the members – and managed to bring together a membership group of 350 practices over a six month period via a well-targeted Direct Mail campaign.

In addition, the model offered to optometrists allowed those joining the group to earn shares in the holding company based on their buying patterns and amounts spent with suppliers. Thus Optovision works as much as a loyalty program for suppliers as it does a money saving vehicle for members – a genuine win-win!
